JOB POSTING

Position: Trail Liaison Officer
Organization: Trans Canada Trail // sentier Transcanadien
Website: http://www.tctrail.ca
Location: home office / anywhere in Canada

The Trans Canada Trail / Sentier Transcanadien (TCT/STC) when complete, will be the world’s longest and grandest recreational trail. It is currently used by millions of Canadians and international visitors to experience our country’s legendary wilderness, cycle historic rail trails, explore provincial and territorial capitals, canoe the routes of early explorers, visit national and provincial parks and historic sites, commute to and from work, and enjoy the benefits of safe, healthy active living. By Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, the Trail will be fully connected, stretching over 24,000 kilometres from coast to coast to coast, linking millions of Canadians and celebrating our natural and cultural heritage. Today 75% of the Trail is developed.

TRAIL-LIAISON OFFICER

The Trans Canada Trail (TCT) is currently seeking a Trail Liaison Officer to work on a national level. The successful candidate will work from a home office and will be a crucial member of the Trans Canada Trail team.

Reporting directly to the National Director of Trail, you will be accountable for the coordination and development of communication materials, donor stewardship reports, fund development materials and government briefing notes. You will take the lead role in working with partners at the local level to collect data on their trail projects. You must be well organized and able to manage multiple projects and have the ability to develop and foster relationships with municipalities, stakeholders and trail organizations.

As an outgoing and energetic self-starter, you will exhibit a good understanding in mobilizing people to achieve success. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to build and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You have superior organization skills, thrive on challenges, and demonstrate initiative and creativity. Your outstanding communications skills (written, verbal, presentation) will ensure that the Vision of TCT is clearly understood and the urgency around connection by 2017 is clearly articulated.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

You bring 5 years of experience in communications, community development and stakeholder management and you can demonstrate hands-on experience in those areas. You are bilingual, a dynamic self-starter, a confident and talented team player and a highly effective organizer.

All applicants are thanked for their interest in the Trans Canada Trail/Sentier Transcanadien. Only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
