Description:

Falls Brook Centre (FBC) is looking for a confident, creative, and highly talented individual to be our Education Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have post-secondary training in education, or a related field, providing experience with program design, implementation and evaluation. They are an excellent communicator who enjoys collaborative projects and an intimate team environment.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Education Coordinator works to conceptualize, design, and implement educational programming across FBC’s four thematic priority outcomes (Local Food, Renewable Energy, Biodiversity & Thriving Communities) targeting public/ private schools, youth, and lifelong learners within the Saint John River Watershed Region and in selected international communities. Working with FBC staff, the Education Coordinator is responsible for: developing FBC’s holistic education philosophy, compiling, delivering and proliferating educational material to targeted audiences both on and off-site, developing educational products for sale, developing Falls Brook Centre’s demonstration site as an education tool, public advocacy, funding acquisition and fund management.

Within this contract period, your responsibilities will be as follows:

Public/Private Education:
• Maintain and investigate opportunities to deliver curriculum linked programming
• Develop/format education materials in a consistent FBC brand
• Develop/organize education curriculum ensuring k-12 applicability
• Collaborate with like-minded organizations to investigate/pursue complementary programming

On-site Activities:
• Identify & pursue educational opportunities linked to site development
• Develop, in conjunction with other staff, educational workshop series and certified courses
• Develop programming for education field trips, camps and retreats

Off-site Activities:
• Investigate/pursue educational programming opportunities outside the public school system within the Saint John River Watershed Region & in selected international communities
• Attend education related events within the Saint John River Watershed Region, providing appropriate programming/ services

Fund Seeking/Management:
• Investigate and pursue funding that directly relates to FBC’s education mission
• Work in collaboration with FBC staff who have acquired funding which includes an education mandate
• Manage acquired funding and fulfill all related obligations in conjunction with the Executive Director

Other:
• Assist with general operation of FBC demonstration site
• Assist other staff during major organizational events
• Other tasking as assigned by the Executive Director

Eligibility:
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Bilingualism (English and French) is preferred
• Eligibility for the Youth Employment Fund is an asset
• Must be unemployed, underemployed, or working less than 15 hours per week
• Must be a resident of New Brunswick
• Individuals must be between 18-29 (at least 18 years old but less than 30 years old at the time of application)
• Must be a graduate of a recognized post-secondary institution within the last four years
• Have not previously participated in a Youth Employment Fund placement
• The Education Coordinator must able to travel to the FBC Satellite Office in Fredericton, NB from the FBC Demonstration Site in Glassville, NB (or vice versa) throughout the contract period
