The company is based in Toronto, Ontario with offices in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Regina, Saskatchewan; and Washington, D.C. We have 45 full-time employees and over 600 contractors working as auditors, energy managers, and in-field representatives.
Our clientele includes more than 40 utilities, 70 retailers and 18 manufacturers, as well as industry associations, educational institutions, government agencies, and not-for-profit organizations

Job Summary
Summerhill is exploring the opportunity of building the capacity of our project management team in Halifax, Nova Scotia and invite strong, bright, entrepreneurial candidates with experience delivering energy efficiency programs and a willingness to take on challenging programs and new opportunities to apply. The Project Manager provides direction and leadership for their respective project(s), and is responsible for ensuring cohesive and consistent project delivery on time, on budget, on target, with a successful team and to the clients satisfaction within established quality standards. The Project Manager is responsible for leading the project planning, implementation and close-out processes while managing various project deliverables. This role reports to the Senior Director, Halifax and may include support from Project Coordinator(s) and field based staff.
Project Management Responsibilities:
Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client (internal or external clients).
Effectively applies Summerhill methodology and enforces project quality standards.
Minimizes organizational exposure and risk on project(s).
Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
Ensures project learnings and outcomes are captured and reported for future reference.
Provides direct supervision to all subordinate members of the project team.
Project Accounting
Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and makes decisions accordingly.
Ensures project legal documents are completed and signed
Tracks and reports team hours and expenses.
Manages project budget, including monthly review and reconciliation
Understands project pricing model and billing procedures.
Ensures timely and accurate invoicing, and monitors project receivables.
Follows up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
Business Development
Identifies business development and "add-on" sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project.
Shares opportunities for project or client growth with appropriate Account Director
Effectively conveys corporate message in both written and verbal business development discussions.
Develops project budgets for new project design based on knowledge of delivery and resource requirements
Communication
Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
Holds regular status meetings with project team.
Keeps project team well informed of changes to project scope and plan.
Effectively communicates relevant project information to project stakeholders, internal and external clients.
Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
Stakeholder Management
Manages day-to-day interaction with project stakeholders (internal and external customers, vendors and other interested parties).
Develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster ongoing relationships.
Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs.
5+ years of energy efficiency program experience
Demonstrate a strong knowledge of Demand Side Management and energy conservation and familiarity with relevant provincial residential and commercial incentive programs.
Professional designations considered an asset include
Project Management Professional (PMP),
Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
Certified Engineering Technologist (CET),
NRCan trained and Certified Energy Auditor (CEA)
Excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively support multiple projects
Exceptional interpersonal skills in order to effectively work cross functionally; source information, obtain approvals, build relationships, and provide sufficient influence to achieve success.
Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Connect and Google Applications with an aptitude to learn internal software and other relevant applications
Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
