Position: Outreach & Communications Coordinator
Organization: ACORN
Location: Sackville, New Brunswick
Duration: 15-month maternity leave
About ACORN:
Since 2000, the Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network (ACORN) has been the key organization for information on organic agriculture, eating organics, and connecting all the parts together. From seed to farmer to consumer, ACORN serves as a network and a resource for all Atlantic Canadians interested in organic food and agriculture.
Job Description:
This role provides the opportunity to lead ACORNs consumer education programming through the creation of marketing materials developed with and for organic producers and the delivery of direct-to-consumer training. ACORNs Outreach & Communications Coordinator is also charged with managing all ACORNs communications, relaying not only the local and organic better together message, but also keeping ACORNs membership and broader network informed and engaged with ACORN events, resources and relevant news.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Working with a marketing consultant to develop and execute a new Atlantic regional organic marketing strategy
Coordinating consumer-facing Organic Ambassador webinar series for Organic Week and other consumer education/engagement opportunities throughout the year
Creatively managing all ACORNs digital media, including monthly enews, website and social media
Leading management of ACORNs quarterly print member newsletter, including content, design, ads and delivery
Working together with other staff to coordinate special member initiatives (e.g. Member Meet-Ups or recruitment campaigns)
Desired Qualifications:
Strong interest and/or knowledge or experience in local organic food and agriculture
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Professional experience with social and multimedia promotional tools
Communications and/or marketing experience and/or knowledge
Proven project management and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
The following would be considered assets:
Experience with Macs and related programs
Non-profit experience
French communication skills
Familiarity with organic sector and/or ACORN
Job Details:
This is a full-time, 15-month maternity leave position starting July 16, 2018 that may have some possibility for extension (up to 18 months). The selected candidate will work out of ACORNs office in Sackville, New Brunswick. Compensation includes participation in ACORNs Benefits program.
