The Deanery Project is excited to be offering the internationally
recognized Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) again in 2019. The program
will take place at the Deanery in Ship Harbour, NS. Long-time PDC educator
Charles Williams will be leading this important program with support from
talented, experienced local instructors.

The internationally recognized Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) is a
combination of hands-on and theoretical learning. It includes in-depth
permaculture theory, design methodology, practical exercises, and group
projects.

The PDC is being offered through the Deanery Project  in six weekend
modules, spread over eight months from April to November. In order to make
PDC course content available to as many people as possible, we are offering
the opportunity to register for the full program or for individual modules.
NOTE: To earn the Permaculture Design Certificate, you must complete all
modules and associated deliverables.

COST:
Full PDC (6 modules) - $1500 + HST - Individual modules - $300 + HST.
Prices include meals and dormitory or camping accommodation as well as
instruction.

PAYMENT OPTIONS
A limited number of work trade positions are available for the full PDC and
for individual modules. Payment schedules can also be arranged.

SCHEDULE & CONTENT
Each module will happen over three days. Times are approximate. More
details will be included in your registration package. Fri - 6:00 - 9:00 pm
- Sat - 9:00 am - 9:00 pm - Sun - 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

MODULE #1 APRIL 5-7: Introduction to Permaculture
Tools for understanding the landscape; Indigenous wisdom and science

MODULE #2 MAY 3-5: Tending the Soils and Plants
Building and healing soils; Planting, propagating and pruning; Restoring
degraded landscapes

MODULE #3 JUNE 14-16: Managing Water
Rain gardens, ponds and swales; Erosion, drought and storms; Healing toxic
waters

MODULE #4 SEPT 20-22: Natural Building Techniques
Hands-on building - Straw bale, cob, hempcrete, thatch, light straw clay,
rocket stoves

MODULE #5 OCT 18-20: Confronting Climate Change
Urban and rural strategies; Role of animals; Alternative economics

MODULE #6 NOV 15-17: Design Projects and Wrap Up
How to apply permaculture to building healthy groups; Design presentations
