Join us for  Natural Building EAST, <http://thedeaneryproject.com/natural-building-east/#presenters> a landmark ecological design conference for home owners, designers, builders, planners, researchers and students on September 28-29. Driven by an urgency to take collaborative action in the built environment to mitigate climate warming, participants will explore materials, energy systems and community design opportunities that can make a difference today.

Keynote speakers Chris Magwood, founder/director of the  <http://endeavourcentre.org/>Endeavour Centre <http://endeavourcentre.org/> Ontario, and Mark Lakeman, founder/City Repair Project  <http://www.cityrepair.org/>and Communitecture, Portland, Oregon along with local regional leaders in natural building, environmental design and permaculture will use presentations, panels and hands-on workshops to share their research, stories and ideas.

Conference topics will include new developments in natural building and energy systems, site tours, case studies, and demonstrations of hempcrete, straw bale construction and clay plasters, An integral part of the conference is identifying specific actions that can be taken on individual and collective projects to affect climate change.
The Deanery Project is an environmental and arts learning centre, located on 25 acres of oceanfront woodland in Lower Ship Harbour. It is a leading-edge demonstration site for permaculture and sustainable living systems, renewable energy, natural building, and community strengthening tools. It offers on and off-site experiential learning opportunities in association with pre and post secondary schools, businesses and community organizations.
