Good Afternoon,
I hope you are well! The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation is launching an event to recognize the important and constantly changing work that volunteers in 2020 are committed to doing - we wanted to ask your organization if you could share the opportunity to be involved with your network of volunteers! We’d really appreciate if you could forward the information below to volunteers who might be interested.

Thanks,
Lauren

ACIC is excited to showcase the impacts that Atlantic Canadians are making through their volunteer work for International Volunteer Day. We are looking for passionate volunteers who will use photojournalism to tell their story of volunteering locally and the effect it has globally. We want to capture how volunteering looks different in 2020 and showcase the creativity and ingenuity of organizations and volunteers as they work to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

With the support of ACIC staff, photos will be collected, curated and displayed in an e-gallery, which will be launched during an online event with the photojournalists and participants, on Friday, December 4th. The online photo exhibit and event will demonstrate the variety of ways that Atlantic Canadians, young and old, volunteer to make their community better, especially within the pandemic context. Upon completion of the training and event, each photojournalist will receive a $250 honorarium for their time and commitment. This is a great opportunity to showcase the ways people can volunteer both at home and abroad and to make the connections between the two!

Who can apply? Volunteers living in Atlantic Canada from all ages are welcome to apply. There is no photography experience required, as a short training on photography and photojournalism will be provided.

What will be expected of successful applicants?

  * Attend a short 1-2 hour virtual workshop on photojournalism between the dates of November 17th-20th (date and time TBA).
  * Develop a photojournal project, which will include 10 photos and an accompanying 5 minute long story presentation.
  * Attend and present your work at the 1.5 hour International Volunteer Day E-gallery launch event on Friday, December 4th (time TBA).

Applications are due at 11:59 pm on Sunday, Nov 15th. For more information contact Lauren at lauren at acic-caci.org<mailto:lauren at acic-caci.org>.
