Position: Clean Transportation Manager
Organization: Clean Foundation
Location: Dartmouth, Halifax, Nova Scotia
Hours: Full-time (35 hours / week)
Wage: Commensurate with relevant experience and education
Status: Term through to March 31st, 2021, with possibility to renew
The Opportunity:
The goal of Clean Foundations Clean Transportation team is to support Nova Scotias efforts to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 by developing and delivering programming to support the transition from conventional fossil fuel-powered modes of transportation. This switch has the added benefits of reducing particulate and noise pollution and lowering the lifetime cost of vehicle ownership. Through a combination of building partnerships, designing, implementing and evaluating programs, and contributing meaningfully to the public dialogue around low carbon transportation, the Clean Transportation Manager will support the increased uptake of low carbon transportation alternatives in Nova Scotia.
This role is best suited to a dynamic and impact-driven project manager who thrives in a collaborative work environment. This role requires someone who is equally comfortable with the technical and policy elements of electric vehicles (EVs) and low-carbon transportation and whos equally at home thinking strategically as well as keeping a solid handle on the details. Stakeholder relationship-building, technical knowledge of EVs and other low-carbon modes of transportation, strategic planning, organization, and project management skills will be regularly flexed. The Clean Transportation Manager will often be the public face of the department and so must be professional, trustworthy, and knowledgeable.
The successful candidate will be able to balance multiple tasks and provide timely strategic advice while delivering quality work under tight timelines. Additional hours, or time outside of normal work hours, may be required to meet operational requirements at specific times of the year.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
The Clean Transportation Manager will be responsible for overseeing the pillar program for the department. Next Ride is an EV engagement and education campaign that provides Nova Scotians with the opportunity to experience EVs first-hand by going on guided test drives with our dedicated EV Engagement Specialists. The Clean Transportation Manager will also be responsible for identifying opportunities for future program growth and development and working with the Department Director and Cleans Program Development Manager to secure funding.
Particular tasks include:
Supervision of department staff;
Oversight of department budgets and work plans;
Research and keeping abreast of new developments in the technical and policy realms;
building and maintaining a network of allied stakeholders throughout Atlantic Canada;
in collaboration with Cleans External Relations staff, contributing to the ongoing dialogue about low carbon transportation alternatives through social media posts, podcasts, op-eds, reports, media interviews, etc.; and
other general administrative duties, as required.
Qualifications:
Experience and in low carbon transportation, environmental management, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
Experience managing projects.
Experience designing, implementing and evaluating public education campaigns.
Experience leading or supporting project funding proposal development.
Excellent presentation and communication skills written and verbal.
Superior organizational, research, budget management and analytical skills.
Adept building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders from diverse sectors.
Ability to build collaborative multi-sectoral projects or programs.
Proficient with computer applications such as the Office 365 Suite, Internet and Outlook.
Must be self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently.
Must demonstrate a passion for the environment.
Must have a valid Canadian drivers license and be able to provide a drivers abstract from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
Must be able to complete and pass a criminal background check.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Must be a resident of Nova Scotia.
Experience working in a non-profit organization is an asset.
Experience designing and/or administering environmental incentive programs is an asset.
