Our Fundraising Team is Growing! We are hiring 4 individuals to fill the roles of Membership Acquisition Officer - Door to Door Canvassing.

POSITION SUMMARY

As part of Ecology Action Centre’s (EAC) Fundraising Team your primary focus will be travelling to different communities within Nova Scotia, going house to house inspiring people to become a monthly donor in order to grow our memberships. Membership canvassing is an incredibly important role at EAC and complements our other fundraising initiatives such as, donor stewardship, website donation, digital fundraising methods, email and online marketing, etc.

ABOUT YOU

Your enthusiasm and strong communications skills enable you to quickly build rapport with people and create genuine connections through every fundraiser-donor interaction. You have an interest in the charitable sector, learning about the ecology of our province and want to work at a local organization rooted in community while educating and encouraging people to help build a healthier and more sustainable world.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES YOU WILL HOLD
• Going door to door, approaching people at home in order to educate and encourage them to become members, signing up as monthly donors
• Monthly donor acquisition with weekly targets
• Engaging the general public in a respectable and professional manner while following EAC’s safety protocols including keep yourself, colleagues and donors safe during COVID
• Working collaboratively with the fundraising team, including attending team meetings
• Attend events, such as third-party fundraising events, EAC holiday open house, community outreach events, etc.
• Supporting the overall work of the EAC

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• A strong interest and passion for the health of our environment
• Exemplary communication skills and ability to relate to people face-to-face
• Resiliency and a positive outlook
• Willingness to learn
• Background in sales and/or customer service
• Flexibility to work evenings and some weekends
• Ability to travel extensively, work outdoors, walk and stand for long periods
• A proven track record of meeting individual fundraising or sales quotas is preferred
• Previous work experience as a canvasser and/or interest in developing a career in fundraising is beneficial

WHAT WE OFFER
• Starting at $16.16 per hour, 30 hours per week (July to the end of November, with the possibility of a contract renewal)
• Hours are Monday to Friday, 1-7pm with some flexibility as required
• To ensure the safety of our community and our canvassers, EAC has implemented strict covid protocols. Canvassers will be provided with PPE equipment (masks, hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes) and a tablet to encourage touch free interaction. EAC has and will continue to adhere to all public health provincial guidelines and procedures.
