Position: Climate Change Engagement & Knowledge Mobilization Lead
Organization: CLIMAtlantic
Location: applicants should live in Atlantic Canada

CLIMAtlantic Inc. is a new non-profit organization that is part of a national network of climate services centres (see the Canadian Centre for Climate Services). CLIMAtlantic will focus on creating a strong Atlantic Canada network generating a wealth of information sharing in this space, in addition to supporting specific unique place-based work. CLIMAtlantic will work with all regional and local actors to ensure that this will become a strong network where collaboration is supported, data and tools are easily accessible, and services will be provided by local and regional partners as much as possible.

We are seeking an experienced individual with enthusiasm for engaging and collaborating with various sectors, organizations, and agencies in Atlantic Canada around climate impacts and adaptation. This is an opportunity to deep-dive into the climate space across Atlantic Canada, help build climate literacy, adaptation capacity, and collaboration across a very diverse region with differing challenges and capacities.

Essential qualifications
• University degree in Environmental Studies, Sciences, Planning, Education, preferably with coursework related to Climate Change, Planning, Environmental Management, or,
• An equivalent amount of higher-level education, a minimum of five (5) years of climate-related work experience, or certification, that meets the overall requirements of the position.
• Experience working in the non-profit sector (min 2 years), and a minimum of two (2) years experience leading networking, partnering or collaboration initiatives;
• Written and spoken competence in English and French. Please state your language capability;
• Experience working in Atlantic Canada and currently eligible to work in Canada;
• Ability to communicate climate science & impacts effectively to a wide variety of audiences;
• Excellent computer skills, strong facilitation skills, and strong inter-personal skills.

The following experiences would be considered an asset 
• Experience providing training and/or information sessions on climate change impacts and adaptation, tailored to the audience learning objectives;
• Working with Indigenous communities, governments, and/or organizations;
• Work experience relating to climate change adaptation in Atlantic Canada;
• Experience in event organizing;

Application deadline: June 25th, 2021
Compensation: 52,000 to 72,800 per year; commensurate with experience
Location: virtual, with travel required across Atlantic Canada once COVID-19 restrictions and health guidelines permit.

Nature of job: fulltime, permanent, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and evening work.

Qualifications essentielles
• Diplôme universitaire en études environnementales, sciences, planification, éducation, de préférence avec des cours liés aux changements climatiques, à la planification, à la gestion environnementale, ou,
• Un niveau équivalent d'études supérieures, un minimum de cinq (5) ans d'expérience professionnelle liée au climat, ou une certification, qui répond aux exigences générales du poste;
• Expérience de travail dans le secteur à but non lucratif (minimum 2 ans), et un minimum de deux (2) ans d'expérience dans la direction d'initiatives de réseautage, de partenariat ou de collaboration;
• Compétences écrites et orales en anglais et en français. Veuillez indiquer votre capacité linguistique;
• Expérience de travail au Canada atlantique et admissibilité actuelle à travailler au Canada;
• Capacité de communiquer efficacement la science et les impacts du climat à une grande variété de publics;
• Excellentes compétences informatiques, fortes compétences en facilitation et fortes compétences interpersonnelles.

Les expériences suivantes seraient considérées comme un atout 
• Expérience dans l'organisation de sessions de formation et/ou d'information sur les impacts et l'adaptation au changement climatique, adaptées aux objectifs d'apprentissage de l'audience;
• Travail avec des communautés, des gouvernements et/ou des organisations autochtones;
• Expérience de travail liée à l'adaptation aux changements climatiques dans le Canada atlantique;
• Expérience dans l'organisation d'événements;

Date limite de dépôt des candidatures : 25 juin 2021
Salaire horaire : 52,000 to 72,800 par année; en fonction de l'expérience.
Lieu de travail : virtuel, avec des déplacements nécessaires dans tout le Canada atlantique lorsque les restrictions COVID-19 et les directives en matière de santé le permettent.
