Location: Bridgewater, Nova Scotia (Full-time remote work is not an option. Applicants who do not live nearby must be willing to relocate.)
ABOUT ENERGIZE BRIDGEWATER
Over the past decade, the Town of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, has emerged as an international leader in sustainability and energy transition planning and programming. Winner of a GLOBE award in 2018 as well as the national Smart Cities Challenge in 2019, the community's Energize Bridgewater program has been recognized for its approach to innovation in a municipal setting.
Through this program, the Town is moving toward a transition to a clean, energy efficient economy within 30 years, while simultaneously lifting its residents out of energy poverty, a condition that affects nearly 40% of the population. With funding in place for the next five years, Bridgewater is expanding its sustainability team by seeking highly motivated professionals who want to be at the forefront of climate, energy, and social innovation in Canada.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The IT/Data Science Analyst reports to the Senior Energy Manager and helps The Town of Bridgewater develop and launch its Energy Management Information System (EMIS) related to the Energize Bridgewater program, which is a nationally recognized Smart Cities initiative. The primary responsibility of the role is to support the design, prototyping, evaluation, and improvement of EMIS and data communication components and infrastructure that support the Towns clean energy and energy poverty reduction programs. The IT/Data Science Analyst works as part of an interdisciplinary team that includes other technical, financial, and community engagement specialists, the Towns municipal enterprise resource planning (ERP) system provider, the IT Services department, the data security consultant, the service provider and the community clients.
This position currently has funding attached to it through the federal government. Specific eligibility criteria apply including the following: Recent graduate from post-secondary institution, 30 years old or younger and eligible to work in Canada. Position is located in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Full-time remote work is not an option.
ABOUT YOU
Education:
Post-secondary graduate in computer sciences, information technology, data analytics, or related field
Technical Skills:
Hands on Python skills (3.x) - Intermediate level (or above)
Experience with key data science Python packages: Pandas, Scikit Learn, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, Plotly
Experience in building Machine Learning models using Tensorflow/ Keras/ PyTorch
Experience in using LSTM/ RNN/ Transformers for sequence modeling
Experience in time series forecasting
Experience working with tools like Tableau, PowerBI for building visualizations
Data analysis & reporting
Generating ER diagrams for logical and conceptual data models
Technical documentation
Basic to intermediate SQL skills and working with RDMBS/ NoSQL like PostgresSQL, MySQL, MongoDB
Abilities:
Team player who is also able to work independently and handle conflicting priorities while maintaining consistent, quality performance standards.
Ability to manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines and prioritize effectively, while delivering high quality work.
Solution oriented with a high sense of quality, attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency, and meeting tight deadlines.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
12-month term position (approximate)
Salary: $40,000 - 52,000, commensurate with experience
Full-time (35 hours per week) Monday to Friday. Some overtime may be required
