Job Description:

The Ross Creek Centre for the Arts’ Environmental Property Manager and Eco-Educator works closely with staff to ensure the property is maintained throughout the seasons; plans and manages the kitchen and public gardens in collaboration with the executive director, chef, and gardener; coordinates volunteers in the landscape and with the kitchen; researches, develops, and implements lesson plans for observational learning-based environmental education and food awareness for all ages; coordinates with the needs of the various programs to make a spectacular environmental campus for our art camps, workshops festivals, and the live outdoor theatre produced by Two Planks and a Passion Theatre; maintains trails and researches and develops expansion of trails, facilities, and gardens, always with aesthetics in mind; maintains equipment; ensures safety standards; meets or exceeds aesthetic and production goals. Is responsible for monitoring our carbon footprint and other ways to improve our cl
 imate change mitigation plans. Other Duties as required.

The Environmental Property Manager and Eco-Educator helps ensure visitors are made to feel welcome and comfortable from their first visit to their last look down the driveway as the sun sets over the property. This is a full-time salaried position. The Environmental Property Manager and Eco-Educator reports to the ED. The candidate needs to under thirty due to funding considerarions.

The successful employee for this position possesses:
• Strong background in one of the following fields: biology, landscaping, horticulture, organic agriculture, or other relevant experience.
• strong English written and verbal abilities
• professional telephone & public speaking manner
• organizational skills and the ability to switch tasks
• professional, positive and creative attitude
• proficient computer use (WORD, Excel)
• reliable transportation
• drive to research, promote, plan
• interest, experience in and/or passion for the arts and the environment
• A desire to develop environmental outreach programs on & for our landscape
• Love of being with the public, children and artists
• A great sense of humour and love of the outdoors
• Interest in working with and coordinating volunteers

The Ross Creek Centre for the Arts is a multidisciplinary arts education and development centre based on 178 acres of farm and forest in Sipekinatiq Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. Our facilities and programs are designed to serve the artistic and cultural communities of Nova Scotia, of Canada, and of the world, with a focus on professional artist development, youth education, and community development.
