The Harrison Lewis Centre is available for natural history retreats,
research, field trips, and nature walks (birding, wildflowers, lichens and
mosses, etc.) and overnight bookings by individuals or groups with a focus
on appreciating and learning about our natural environment.
We are a registered non-profit organization, established in 2007, with the
mission “to operate an educational retreat for the exploration and
appreciation of the natural history and rural heritage of Nova Scotia.”
We are located on the Province’s South Shore amidst many hundreds of acres
of protected wilderness – adjacent to Thomas Raddall Provincial Park and
across Port Joli Harbour from Environment Canada’s Kejimkujik Seaside Park.
A wide variety of habitats (17 in all) provide a home for a vast assortment
of terrestrial, fresh-water, and marine species of plants and animals,
several of which are endangered or classified as “at risk.”
Amenities include a field lab, a meeting/dining room, complete kitchen,
washrooms, laundry, and hot showers. Five rustic cabins (two off-grid) can
accommodate up to 22 people, with plenty of extra room to camp! Favourable
rates apply.
For more details about the Harrison Lewis Centre and what we have to offer,
please write to us about what you would like to accomplish during a visit
here – whether a day-trip, over-night – or perhaps to pursue a research
project. If you're interested in learning more about what we offer, check
out our website <https://www.harrisonlewiscentre.org/> for more information!
