SAIDYE BRONFMAN CENTRE THEATRE


POSITION:
Marketing and Communications Director
Saidye Bronfman Centre Theatre, Full-time, permanent

 
MANDATE:
To develop and execute effective marketing and communications strategies
for the English and Yiddish Theatre season working directly with the SBC
Theatre Artistic Director. To ensure quality control for all SBC Theatre
printed and Internet materials.


SELECTED RESPONSIBILITIES:
-----------------------------------------
1. MARKETING
-- research, develop and execute approved marketing and promotional
strategies for the annual Theatre season subscriptions campaign and per
production; provide support to the Theatre Sales Director in
establishing group sales strategies, sales promotions and related tools.
-- design, control and reconcile Marketing and Communications budgets.
-- in conjunction with the Box Office Manager and the M.I.S.
coordinator, develop and manage an effective recording / tracking system
of promotional initiatives and single ticket buyers to create and / or
improve direct marketing strategies.
-- develop and maintain databases for theatre (suppliers, prospects,
related community and cultural organizations, and media). 
 
2. COMMUNICATIONS
-- research and secure media sponsors for the Theatre season; liaise
with Centre director to ensure consistency and efficiency of
sponsorships and promotions.
-- develop and execute media and public relations plans for each play of
the Theatre season and Centre-wide events that include the Theatre. 
-- write, edit and proof-read copy for all Theatre promotional and press
materials. 
-- produce media / publicity reports and press kits for each production.

-- write marketing aspects of grant applications and reports.
-- research and develop specific marketing and e-commerce applications.
-- research and development of strategic opportunities to enhance the
branding / profile of the SBC Theatre. 
 

ESSENTIAL SKILL & ABILITIES:
-----------------------------------------
-- Marketing and Communications degree or equivalent
-- 3-5 years of marketing and communications experience in the Arts
-- knowledge of media
-- excellent verbal and written skills
-- spoken French
-- excellent organizational and planning skills
-- strong interpersonal skills
-- ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
