VOTE ARTS RALLY - HALIFAX - OCTOBER 3RD
-----------------------

Artists, their families and audiences from all disciplines will be
gathering on Friday, October 3rd at 12.30 p.m., in Grand Parade,
Barrington Street, Halifax to protest false comments by Prime Minister
Stephen Harper made in regards to the arts in this country, as well as
the multi-million dollar cuts to funding.

Bring family, bring friends, spread the word, and let's fill the
Square."

Rally organizer, ACTRA Maritimes Vice-President Sherry Smith explains
"The issue of arts funding and culture cuts must be on the agenda in
this federal election. We must to be seen to be heard. Now is the time,
here is the place."

The message from the rally organizers is simple: VOTE ARTS! They will be
encouraging supporters to ask their electoral candidates to state where
they stand on arts-related issues. How important is funding the arts to
them? Do they participate in the arts?
