CHRC Launches Career Self-Management Guide for Artists and Cultural Workers

Ottawa, June 21, 2002 - The Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) with the financial support of Human Resources Development Canada announced the launch of the Guide "The Art of Managing Your Career" at the Maison du Citoyen, Gatineau (formerly Hull), Québec.

"The Art of Managing Your Career" (in print and on-line) was developed by artists and cultural workers to provide pertinent and practical information to better manage their careers. It is intended to benefit "emerging" self-employed artists and cultural workers with fewer than five years' experience in the cultural sector. Written in a "down-to-earth" manner, it is supplemented by a CD-ROM linking to the Internet site. This curriculum development tool is excellent for career self-assessment.

The Guide is available in both official languages and can be purchased from CHRC at $20 per copy (excluding handling and delivery charges): info at culturalhrc.ca

The Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting cultural workers, producers and artists in strengthening the Canadian cultural workforce. Established in 1995 by the cultural sector, CHRC assists and promotes human resources issues in all the sub-sectors of arts and culture.

Lancement du Guide pour artiste et travailleur autonome en milieu culturel L'Art de gérer sa carrière

Ottawa, le 21 juin 2002 - Le Conseil des ressources humaines du secteur culturel, avec l'appui financier de Développement des ressources humaines Canada, a annoncé le lancement du Guide L'Art de gérer sa carrière (version imprimée et en ligne) à la Maison du Citoyen de Gatineau (anciennement Hull), Québec.

La version française a été produite par le Conseil des ressources humaines du secteur culturel en collaboration avec le Conseil québécois des ressources humaines en culture. Le Guide vise ceux et celles en début de carrière, possédant moins de cinq ans d'expérience dans le secteur culturel. Excellent outil d'auto-évaluation et d'auto-formation, il sert aussi d'outil de développement de curriculum pour artistes et travailleurs autonomes.

L'Art de gérer sa carrière, accompagné d'un cédérom avec un lien direct au site Internet, est disponible dans les deux langues officielles. On peut se le procurer pour 20 $ auprès du CRHSC : info at crhsculturel.ca (frais de manutention et de livraison en sus).

Le CRHSC est un organisme national à but non lucratif établi en 1995 par des membres du milieu culturel.  Il aide les membres du secteur à mieux gagner leur vie tout en se bâtissant un avenir meilleur et encourage les efforts concertés pour répondre aux besoins de perfectionnement et de planification en ressources humaines.
