Gala Event produced by CAEA member Shel Goldstein
If the theories of Dr. Gimbutas are correct, then peace, reverence for
the earth and the honouring of life are not only human capabilities,
they are the very underpinnings of European civilization itself.
Are human beings innately aggressive and dominating, doomed to live in
violence and destroy each other and the earth ?
Or are we capable of creating cultures based on co-operation and peace ?
Come celebrate with us, and bring such a civilization into being again.

Brampton's Heritage Theatre presents 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are
Dead'. Playwright Tom Stoppard takes Hamlet's bumbling sidekicks and
drops
them front and centre for a wise and exuberant riff on the mysteries of
life. Stoppard's first major success, 'Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are
Dead'
abounds with the biting wit that has made him one of the most
acclaimed playwrights of our time. This funny and furious barrage of
banter
rocketed Stoppard to international renown. It weaves together a madcap
comedy of ideas out of wild verbal wordplay, engaging ideas about life,
death and sex, and fabulous clown-like antics-plus a little existential
angst thrown in for good measure.
Equity Director, Andrew Lamb has assembled a talented cast, including
Equity
members: Christopher Morris, Alan Lee, David Philips and Esther Jaciuk.
'Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead' will run November
18,19,20,25,26,27 @
8pm and November 21 and 28 @ 2pm at the Heritage Theatre, 86 Main St. N.
in
Brampton. Contact the box office for tickets and information @
905-874-2800.

Leanor and Alvin Segal Theatre presents The Tempest, by William
Shakespeare. November 21- December 6. Directed by Madd Harold. At the
Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts, 5170 Cote St. Catherine Rd.
Montreal, box office: (514) 739-7944
This exotic, mystical play finds Prospero, an exiled Duke, marooned with
his daughter Miranda on the sandy, idyllic shores of an island paradise.
Shakespeare's last play, The Tempest features talks with fairies and the
romance of Miranda and Ferdinand. Madd is keen to illuminate some of the
primal themes, "The Old World and the New World meet in this exploration
of freedom, redemption and transformation." This imaginative play
incorporates video, illusion and the original songs from the period.
The stellar cast of twelve actors includes Gareth Armstrong (Prospero),
Douglas Campbell (Gonzalo), Yann Bernaquez (The Boatswain), Greg Kramer
(Antonio), Tristan D. Lalla (Caliban), Gordon Masten (Stephano), Kyle
MacDougall (Sebastian), Trent Pardy (Ariel), Moya O'connell (Miranda),
Gareth Potter (Ferdinand), Andrew Shaver (Tinculo) and Ivan Smith
(Alonso).
The inspired team bringing the elements alive is: Nelly Savova
(Set/Costume Designer), Claude Accolas (Lighting Designer), Rob Denton,
Ben Finkelberg (Sound Designers), Todd Bricker (Stage Manager) Karla
Trujillo Villon (Assistant Stage Manager), Frances Balenzano (Assistant
Director), Lissa Bobrow and Jennifer Wade (Apprentice Stage Managers).
