Additional information:
This new play takes place within the Chinese mining community in
Cumberland, BC in 1898, and centres on the arrival of a touring
Cantonese Opera troupe. This production is a collaboration with Canadian
theatre artists and Cantonese Opera performers. We are auditioning for:

SALLY WU - 19 year-old Canadian-born Chinese woman. Requires strong
singing, acting and movement.

WU KWUN - 30 year-old Chinese businessman.

LEW CHONG - 35 year-old Chinese miner.

For the roles of SALLY, WU, and LEW, Cantonese language ability an
asset, but not essential.

The following roles will be played by the same actress:
HEAD NURSE - 60 years old, works in the hospital outside of Chinatown.
CAMERON - 40 year-old mine boss, Scottish accent.
PASTOR JAMES - Preaches at the Christian Mission in Chinatown.

Those invited to audition will be asked to show a prepared monologue
(maximum 3 minutes), a short song, and read sides from the script.

Audition Location: Carousel Theatre, Granville Island
Workshop dates: September 15 - 20, 2008
2nd workshop: Early 2009
Production: TBA 2009
