EQUITY COUNCIL ELECTS PRESIDENT AND OFFICERS FOR THE 2009-2012 TERM

The national Council of Canadian Actors' Equity Association has once again elected Allan Teichman, Councillor for the Stage Management region, to serve as the Associations' President. Allan was acclaimed in this position and will serve for a three-year term, December 1, 2009 to November 2012. The President is joined by the following Officers, also acclaimed: 

* 1st Vice-President: Kerry Davidson, Councillor for British Columbia and the Yukon. The 1st Vice-President serves as the "Advisory Liaison," responsible for assisting the Council Policy Advisory Groups across Equity's regions and disciplines carry out their responsibilities. * 2nd Vice-President: Kerry Ann Doherty, Councillor for Ontario. The 2nd Vice-President serves as the "Member Liaison" providing a direct point of contact for members who would like to make Council aware of emerging issues, concerns, and trends. * Secretary/Treasurer: Virginia Reh, Councillor for Ontario. The Secretary/Treasurer is responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of Council's documents and to assist Council to maintain its responsibilities. Equity's Council for 2009-2012 is comprised of 22 Councillors from 13 regions across Canada, and meets 10 times per year. Two meetings per year are face-to-face and held in Toronto, and seven more are conducted by telephone conference call.

Council also holds one face-to-face meeting each calendar year in a city other than Toronto. In October 2010 Council will meet in Calgary, Alberta.
