Dramaturgy by Jean Yoon.

Eventual Ashes presents the multidisciplinary workshop production Hiding
Words for You.  Wong's play delves into nushu, a secret language that
Chinese women created when they were not allowed to read or write.  Set
in China on the eve of its biggest rebellion of the 19th Century, as
well as a present-day Canada, where national security has reached an
increasingly heightened state, this play examines the relationship
between two women who are connected through space and time, following
their pursuits to influence social change. 

1 workshop day, Dec 11.
2 week development workshop, Jan 10-Jan 23.
Public presentation, Jan 23, 2010 at Factory.

Characters:

1. Asian woman mid-late 30s.  

2. Asian woman late-teens to early 20s.

3. Asian girl mid-teens.

All actors must prepare a contemporary monologue, an a cappella singing
piece, and perform an impromptu movement sequence (music will be
provided).
  
Union and non-union actors will be auditioned, note union status on
resume.
