The Classical Music Consort is pleased to invite applications for its
first Handel Singing Competition for young Canadian singers under the
age of 30, as part of its 2011 Second Annual Springtime Handel Festival
to take place between 3 and 8 May, 2011. 

Designed to develop emerging Canadian artists, the competition will give
young singers the opportunity to compete for a $2,000 cash prize and a
chance to have a major role in a future CMC or Underground /Opera
production.  Six short listed candidates will be hand-picked from a
national pool of applicants.  They will perform with the CMC in the
final concert of the festival, adjudicated by a five-member panel
comprised of some of Toronto's most respected performers and pedagogues
of vocal music.
