In our desire to reflect the world and our community on our stage, The Grand
Theatre strongly encourages racially diverse actors to submit resumes. The
creative team is committed to considering all cultural backgrounds for all
roles in the production.
Additional information:
Artists will be asked to prepare at least one song from a preselected list,
and may be asked to read from the script. Musical instruments are an asset.
At this time, Director Heather Davies and Musical Director Marek Norman are
accepting submissions for the following roles:
Shannon / Lawren
SHANNON FRASER: ‘The Big Irishman.' Powerful and quick to anger; jealous of
and increasingly aggravated by Thomson DOUBLES WITH: LAWREN HARRIS: a
founder of The Group of Seven; spiritual, well-spoken baritone (F2 to Eb4)
Larry / Hugh
LARRY DIXON: poacher, guide, and self-proclaimed ‘expert woodsman;’ makes a
mean vat of hooch DOUBLES WITH: HUGH TRAINOR: runs the local lumber yard,
tolerates his wife’s desire to be sociable and genteel tenor (G2 to Ab4)
Dr James MacCallum
DR. JAMES MacCALLUM: ophthalmologist, art patron, businessman; wry and
intelligent; becomes Thomson’s patron, agent, and friend baritone (G2 to
Eb4)
Marie / Frances
MARIE TRAINOR: determined to be a proper mother, she has somehow sublimated
a real strength and determination DOUBLES WITH: FRANCES McGILLVRAY: an
artist; self-confident, intelligent, goes after what she wants, in her 50’s
Soprano (G3 to Ab5)
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
