Driftwood Theatre is dedicated to reflecting Canada’s rich diversity on and
offstage for audiences across Ontario and welcomes applications from artists
of all backgrounds regardless of age, disability, ethno-cultural identity or
gender.
Additional information:
Driftwood Theatre is currently seeking expressions of interest in the title
role of Othello for its 2017 Bard's Bus Tour, Ontario's longest-running
season of outdoor, touring summer theatre. This is not an open casting call
and we are not accepting submissions for any other roles at this time.
Artists are encouraged to forward, via Casting Workbook link or by email, a
resume, photo and brief covering letter (if by email: entire package as a
single PDF only).
Due to the nature of the role and style of Driftwood's the work, only
artists with a strong history of classical and physical theatre are
encouraged to make application. Artists selected for consideration will be
notified to arrange a meeting and/or audition.
ROLE: OTHELLO
AGE RANGE: 30-50
Proud and powerful Othello has fought against systemic barriers, racism and
slavery in order to gain his freedom, his position, and his wife. But at the
heart of this noble man lies a flame of insecurity and rage which will prove
to be his undoing. Driftwood Theatre is welcoming submissions from artists
of colour, with a focus on artists who identify as black or Aboriginal.
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
