Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement: Thought For Food
encourages submissions from artists of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Thought For Food is seeking actors for Bearwalker by Genevieve Adam.

This one-act play tells the story of a newly-arrived French soldier caught
in the middle of a dangerous feud as a wealthy merchant takes vengeance on
his unfaithful wife, her lover, and anyone who stands in his way.

Set in 17th-century New France, Bearwalker challenges the traditional
colonial narrative by giving a strong voice to Indigenous characters as well
as upending our assumptions about the role of women at that time.

We are seeking submissions for the following roles:

JEANNE. Indigenous. Female. 25-35. Strong and stubborn. Trying to forget a
dark past.

MADELEINE. Open ethnicity. Female. 18-25. Young and willful. Desperate to
escape her controlling husband.

The production will run for three weeks in early 2018 in Toronto. Part-time
rehearsals will take place in November and December of 2017 in Toronto.

Actors will be engaged under the Artists' Collective Policy.

late September.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
