Hello,
Contrary to the federal website, Ohio Buckeye is native to Canada
(Walpole Island). The -1 in the Floristic Quality Assessment System for
Southern Ontario does not refer to its weediness index but to its
"wetness index" meaning that it has some tendency to occur in wetlands
(moist swampy soils). Its toxicity should be similar to that of
Horse-chestnut (i.e., be cautious but don't panic).
