Andy

Greetings Urban Natural Resources Partners:

Happy New Year, and welcome to another year of UNRI web-based informational
programming. The full schedule for 2010 web sessions will be released
shortly, and we look forward to your participation again this year.

In the meantime, please plan to attend the January 27th UNRI Webcast,
"Sustainable Urban Forest Management Planning using Criteria and Indicators"
with Philip van Wassenaer, B.Sc, MFC, Urban Forest Innovations Inc.,
Mississauga, Ontario and Andy Kenney Ph.D. RPF, Faculty of Forestry ,
University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario .

This web-based session will demonstrate a successful model for strategic
urban forest management planning. The model incorporates critical aspects of
active adaptive management for an integrated and comprehensive plan over a
20 year planning horizon. Building on the original work of Clark, Metheny,
Cross and Wake in 1997, a revised and enhanced set of criteria and
indicators is proposed as a guide to the plan development as well as
tracking the success of its implementation. A case study of the Town of
Oakville, Ontario, will be used to illustrate one application of the
approach.
