Hello Vince,

In Hudson Quebec, the community is dealing with town council procrastination about EAB, defying The Montreal Metropolitan Community bylaws, public tree inventory, hazards and pest detection, etc. When speaking to a friend about the Thunder Bay City Staff approach, one asked me to follow up with you on the progress of the petition and if you are on Facebook to share with our concerned residents.

All information that you can share with me is extremely valuable.

Best regards

Hello colleagues, our city of Thunder Bay recently found EAB in a few trees and we have since found it in several more traps. The infestation is established but it’s still new.

Our city staff, led by Shelley Vescio, has been extremely proactive in preparing for an infestation. Our citizens are well informed, our inventory is up to date (our street trees are 25% ash!) and our staff is fully aware of the future costs.

However, our city council is dithering on deciding to initiate a plan to protect many eligible trees and remove and replace the others in a planned and controlled progression.

I’m hoping that some of you will take a few moments to sign this petition. If any of you, particularly from those cities already affected by EAB, have any additional wisdom for us to pass on to our decision makers, that would be more than welcome.
