Good morning,
It is so important for our industry to have a standard of training to keep Arborists safe and to have the technical skill and training to ensure the health and longevity of our Urban Forests that are so critical. The ITA in partnership with HortBC has made a great start but people need to be made aware of the value of good training and education for Arborist working in the trees.
As Mike Rosen said below for those that are interested please contact him by email mrosen at treecanada.ca | mrosen at arbrescanada.ca so we can get a committed group of individuals together to spearhead this great initiative creating an elite group of technically skilled and safety oriented of individuals through apprenticeship to be at the forefront of the tree care industry.
Thanks for your support,
-Gus Amundson

Hello,
I was wondering how the Canadian Urban Forestry Network can support and promote Arboriculture becoming an Interprovincial Red Seal Trade? This is so important as it shows colleges and clients, as Arborists we have a standard of training allowing us to work safely in a professional manner while getting the job done. BC has the best apprenticeship program in the country for arboriculture through the Industry Training Authority, but needs the support of the industry to thrive. It is so important to teach and train our industrial athletes across this great country to safely care for the Urban Forest we all depend on.
Thanks,
-Gus
