Hello,
Some non profit tree planting organisations working with corporate land owner, commercial shopping areas and institutional agencies, through neighborhood awareness community projects have measurable success.
Ranks of company staff along with their family and some suppliers will initiate tree planting projects. The trees are paid for by municipalities or by the companies and the planting day becomes an event, food, picnic and shovels.
Some corporate and municipal events promote residential plantings, selected juvenile urban trees are provide by non profit or donors or by the corporation.
In Montreal, this started in 1994 based on U.S Highway Adopt a Tree Program and Brundtlan Commission initiatives. The Montreal Urban Community sponsored working space
And staff, the Metropolitan Montreal Tree Society was granted a large sum for growing nursery stock of native trees, the trees were donated to different projects : parks, schools, companies, and planted with staff.
The objective had a 2 million tree planting tree project over 10 years.
My experience of five years was promoting, fund raising for staff of 10 and training Socially Assisted reinsertion people for planting on Ministry of transport land, residential development land, school programs, Parking lots and parks.
The non-profit still exists, gets its financial support and projects mainly form the City of Montreal and trees from the municipal nursery or from local growers.
Considering all levels of residents of privately owned land could enhance a municipal project.
The main key : maintenance and watering and follow-up.
There is always a place for trees.

Good Afternoon,
Looking to see what other municipalities throughout Canada, both big and small, are doing in respect to promoting Tree Planting amongst their residents.
Do you offer a rebate for planted trees?
Do you sell trees directly to the residents? If so, are these trees planted and monitored by municipal staff?
Other options for urban tree planting programs?
Looking forward to seeing what other municipalities are doing to promote growth within their respective urban forest.
Cheers,
Chelsea Baird
