As a multidisciplinary field, it may prove difficult to create a
certification that shows professional level understanding of the many
facets of urban forestry. I believe that regulating professionals within
their own area of expertise and allowing for a continued multidisciplinary
approach to urban forestry is more critical than creating certifications or
licensing within urban forestry itself.

If the objective is to create a unified approach towards urban forestry,
perhaps the creation of a structural platform or other guiding resources
would prove most fitting for municipalities interested in establishing,
continuing, or better structuring their urban forestry departments.

Additionally, the support of national and international urban forestry
organizations would be valuable, especially those that provide resources
and educational opportunities. Perhaps the best allocation of assets would
be towards continued competency programs or opportunities for
multidisciplinary education from professionals in different industries.

I look forward to the webinar tomorrow,
