Moments ago CHRA board member, and CEO of Ontario's Social Housing Services
Corporation, Lindsey Reed was present in Oakville, Ontario, as HYPERLINK

Diane Finley announced that organizations operating social housing that is
administered by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) can now
apply for renovation and retrofit funding totalling $150 million nationally.


Representatives for Minister Finley, who is responsible for Human Resources
and Social Development Canada and for CMHC, this past week joined provincial
and territorial ministers responsible for housing in HYPERLINK

Territories in a flurry of announcments that will bring increased funding
for affordable housing renovations, retrofits and new affordable housing for
seniors and people with disabilities. This extra funding, which is part of
HYPERLINK "http://www.actionplan.gc.ca/eng/index.asp"Canada's Economic
Action Plan, comes in the form of ammendments to the existing
federal-provincial/territorial Affordable Housing Initiative agreements.
Ammendments had already been signed to the Agreements in British Columbia
and Nova Scotia.

The funding totals announced to date are as follows: British Columbia- $123
Million (seniors housing portion only); Yukon- $60 million; Northwest
Territories- $117 million; Saskatchewan- $161 million; Nunavut- $117
million; PEI- $13 million; Nova Scotia- $128 Million; Newfoundland and
Labrador- $93 million.
