Hello all,

I'm attaching a poster for Carleton University's next Women's Bridging
course, which runs Mondays 6-9pm, January 21 – April 22, 2013 (it is now a
12 week course but there is no class on Family Day or Easter Monday).

Bridging Courses offer the opportunity for adults to explore university
topics and expectations, while also learning or reviving skills in order to
return to school. The small group setting provides an extremely supportive
environment, which is particularly good for those who hope to build
confidence. A grade of "B" or higher in the Bridging course makes one
eligible for acceptance into the Bachelor of Arts program, even without a
high school diploma.

In the last two terms the course content has included persistence, and why
and how some students stay in school, while others leave. The material on
motivation, resistance, persistence, resilience, and adult learners has
been quite relevant to course participants, as they explore how and whether
to return to school. More info is available here:
http://www1.carleton.ca/cie/bridging-program/womens-courses/

The Winter term is the perfect time to attend because you finish in April
and can immediately apply to start your B.A. in the Fall (or even Summer)
term when there is more choice in courses.

Please consider printing the attached poster for your workplace or
community centre, and please forward this message to people who might like
to attend. (Some past students have taken the course a second time, too).
As you know, we have very limited resources for formal advertising, and we
find that word of mouth is how most people find us.

We've received MANY positive comments, evaluations and testimonials from
past students. Some of the comments are here,
www.carleton.ca/cie/bridging-program/student-comments/, and we'll be
posting more over the next few months.

To register, see this page, or call 613-520-2600x1024.

**I'm sending this to past participants in my own Bridging courses; my
apologies for duplicate emails (eg if you have also received a similar
message one from the department).

my best wishes to you, and as always I'd love to hear from you!!
Daphne
