Greetings!

Over the past year, the Alliance to End Homelessness has worked with
numerous local leaders (Randal Goodfellow, Chris Henderson, Val Hinsperger,
Graeme Hussey) to grow a community-wide conversation focused on developing
new tools to grow affordable housing in Ottawa. Broadening the Base (BtB) -
as it is referred to - is today a community-centered, collaborative and
inclusive Ottawa initiative focused on catalyzing and leveraging land,
property, philanthropic and development resources to support the building of
1,500 new affordable housing units over the next five years to provide
sustainable, long term and affordable accommodation for key vulnerable
populations including: chronically homeless individuals, low income families
with multiple young children, youth at-risk, Aboriginal people, and
vulnerable seniors.

On behalf of the convening team, I am pleased to provide an update, to
present you with a plan for the 2015 Design Phase, and to invite your
participation.

We wish to thank the many, many people that have contributed to the BtB
process so far -- attending innovation sessions and a design lab held in
Fall 2014, participating in organizational presentations and discussions,
and offering inspiration and ideas. We've been capturing these ideas, and
in the coming months, we look forward to launching a web portal with
information gathered to-date.

The next step is to provide individuals and organizations across the
community with an opportunity to participate in this year's design phase -
and specifically, to express their support for the BtB process.

In the single attachment to this email, you will find a document containing
the following:

1.	Broadening the Base Vision and Goals
2.	Broadening the Base: The Design Phase - Strategic Framework
3.	A Request for Expressions of Commitment

You will also find this information at:
http://endhomelessnessottawa.ca/broadening-the-base-enters-design-phase-and-
you-can-help-make-it-happen/

We are excited about the 2015 Design Phase; of course, it is dependent on
the participation of individuals and organizations like yourselves. Specific
ways to contribute are outlined in the Strategic Framework attached. Members
of the BtB convening team would also be pleased to meet with you and/or your
organizations / Boards for further discussion. Individuals and
organizations are invited to submit written Expressions of Commitment,
electronically, by Friday, January 30 (of course, they will also be
gratefully received on an on-going basis). We look forward to hearing from
you! Submissions can be sent by email to:
