Employment and Social Development Canada and Service Canada would like to share important information with seniors who receive the Guaranteed Income Supplement, Allowance or Allowance for the Survivor benefit.

During the week of October 5, 2020, Service Canada sent reminder letters and Statement of Income forms to clients in receipt of these benefits whose income information for 2019 had not been received.

These individuals received a ‘reminder kit’ requesting completion and submission of the Statement of Income form. The reminder kit contains:

  1.  a reminder letter;
  2.  a Statement of Income form and instruction sheet; and,
  3.  a self-addressed return envelope.

Each year in July, an individual’s ongoing entitlement to benefits is reviewed based on the most recent income information. Because of the pandemic, individuals who could not be assessed due to a lack of income information continued to receive payments and were notified by letter in July 2020 that income information must be provided. This special measure has ensured that clients who have not provided income information continue to receive their benefits uninterrupted; however this measure expires in December 2020.

Clients who have not yet submitted 2019 income information should do so as soon as possible. Clients who do not submit their income information will not receive the Guaranteed Income Supplement, Allowance or the Allowance for the Survivor in January 2021.

If community members or individuals within your network do not have access to the internet or face other barriers, the Service Canada Outreach Support Centre will ensure they get access to the critical benefits they need. Client can call the toll-free number 1-877-355-2657 TTY: 1-833-719-2657 from 8:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

Emploi et Développement social Canada et Service Canada aimeraient partager de l’information importante avec les aînés qui reçoivent le Supplément de revenu garanti, l'Allocation ou l'Allocation au survivant.

Au cours de la semaine du 5 octobre 2020, Service Canada a envoyé des lettres de rappel et des formulaires d’état de revenu aux clients qui reçoivent ces prestations et dont les renseignements sur le revenu pour 2019 n'ont pas été reçus.

Ces personnes ont reçu une « trousse de rappel » leur demandant de remplir et de soumettre le formulaire d’état de revenu. Cette trousse comprend :

  1.  une lettre de rappel;
  2.  un formulaire d’état de revenu et une feuille d'instructions; et,
  3.  une enveloppe de retour pré-adressée.

Chaque année, en juillet, le droit aux prestations d'une personne doit être réévalué en fonction des renseignements les plus récents concernant ses revenus. En raison de la pandémie, même si l’admissibilité des personnes n’a pas pu être évaluée en raison d'un manque de renseignements sur leurs revenus, le versement des paiements s’est poursuivi. Cependant, ces personnes ont été informées par l’entremise d’une lettre en juillet 2020, que l’information sur leurs revenus devait être fournie. Cette mesure spéciale a permis de garantir que les clients qui n'ont pas fourni les renseignements sur leurs revenus continuent à recevoir leurs prestations sans interruption; toutefois, cette mesure prendra fin en décembre 2020.

Les clients qui n'ont pas encore fourni les détails de leurs revenus de 2019 doivent le faire dès que possible. Les clients qui ne les soumettent pas ne recevront pas le Supplément de revenu garanti, l'Allocation ou l'Allocation au survivant en janvier 2021.

Si les membres de votre communauté ou les personnes de votre réseau n'ont pas accès à internet ou sont confrontés à d'autres obstacles, le Centre d’appui des services mobiles de Service Canada veillera à ce qu'ils aient accès aux prestations essentielles dont ils ont besoin. Les clients peuvent appeler le numéro sans frais 1-877-355-2657 ATS : 1-833-719-2657 de 8h30 à 16h00 du lundi au vendredi.
