*An Invitation to the MYDAS Co-operator World Café:*

**
**
*Introduction:*

The MYDAS (Mobilizing Youth to Deliver Advisory Services) Worker
Co-operative in Nova Scotia is organizing a World Café event to be held in
the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). This event will bring together
stakeholders from Co-operative and Co-op related organizations and
interested youth and young adults throughout the HRM and surrounding areas
of Nova Scotia. John Ure of the Heartwood Centre for Community Youth
Development will be facilitating the event.

 *The World Café:*

A World Café is a tool used throughout the world to draw community members
together for a dialogue about important issues faced by those in attendance.
The method used is that of simple dialogue circles. The methods employed by
this type of event correspond well with the 6th Co-operative Principle of
the International Co-operative Alliance, which calls for "co-operation
amongst co-operatives" for the purpose of strengthening the co-operative
movement.

The session will take place over a light dinner and will last approximately
3 hours. All ideas and proposals will be gathered at the event by members of
the planning committee, and will be disseminated and presented to all
participants following the event.

 *Objectives of this event:*

   - Bring co-operators together**
   - Provide a specific space and focus upon youth in the co-operative
   movement**
   - Foster and build the "community of interests" of the co-operative
   movement in Nova Scotia**
   - Ask the big questions facing the co-operative movement: *How can we
best grow the co-operative movement in this region? How can we encourage
involvement and opportunities for youth within the co-operative movement?
   *

* *

*Who are we?*

MYDAS is a worker co-op composed of youth throughout the Atlantic region.
MYDAS members have been advising and aiding co-ops of various sorts over the
past three months.

The Nova Scotia Co-operative Council is the Provincial representative
organization of the Co-operative and Credit Union System.

The Heartwood Centre is a leader in Youth Development programs in Nova
Scotia. Their aim is to provide lasting and reciprocal benefits for young
people and the community.

 *The Event:*

This event will take place Monday*, September 26th from **6:30 PM** to **9:30
PM** at the St Matthew's Church Hall* (1479 Barrington St).

All members of co-operatives are welcome to attend. Please RSVP if you wish
to attend (422-3208 or by e-mailing stu.neatby at gmail.com).
