Job Posting - Renewable Energy Coordinator


About the EAC
The Ecology Action Centre is the oldest environmental organization in Nova
Scotia and has been in existence since 1971. With almost 900 members, 150
active volunteers and seven issue committees, the Centre focuses on
transportation, wilderness preservation & forestry, coastal issues, urban
planning, energy, agriculture and food, and marine conservation. EAC's
mission is to encourage a society in Nova Scotia, which respects and
protects nature and also provides environmentally and economically
sustainable jobs for its citizens.

About the Position
The EAC is looking for a knowledgeable, personable, and motivated person to
coordinate a project to promote solar hot water to niche markets and develop
new projects.

Responsibilities of the Position

Approach targeted markets (Laundromats, motels, multi-unit) dwellings to
provide information on solar hot water technologies.
Collect site-specific information and utilize RETScreen, or other software,
to conduct feasibility studies
Present information to business owners on return on investment, GHG
reductions, risk and sensitivity for solar hot water installations
Guide business owners through rebate application processes and other hurdles
Promote use of solar hot water technologies by designing on-site visual
displays, through Internet and other media.
Work towards development of further renewable energy projects and securing
more funding in cooperation with the energy issues coordinator and the EAC
energy issues committee
Conduct evaluations & report-back to funders

Qualifications / Skills Required

Technical knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency (esp. solar
hot water)
Familiarity with RETScreen or other renewable energy software program
desired
Experience working with businesses and business organizations
Personable - able to network and answer questions well
Experience with creating promotional materials
Experience in project development
Able to work within budget guidelines
Motivated and able to work independently

This position is full-time for two years (37.5 hrs per week, $17.95/hr).
