Hi there,
Could you post this to the Sustmar network asap?

Thanks,

 Interest in Public Transportation?

Do you live in rural or small-town Nova Scotia? Do you believe your
community would use a public passenger service if only you could get one?
Or do you want to encourage people to use an existing service that seems to
be a best-kept secret? Or maybe you want to save a service that is slated
for abandonment. If so, Transport 2000 Atlantic wants to hear from you!

As part of a limited–time project supported by Conserve Nova Scotia,
Transport 2000 Atlantic is looking to help groups interested in developing
regional transportation services in rural Nova Scotia.

Such services could include:

· Existing but underutilized services

· Recently abandoned services

· New service proposals

· Bus services

· Rail services

· Services that also carry freight or parcels

· Services offering connections to an inter-regional transport service

If you are involved in a group already working towards such a project, or
believe that there would be sufficient interest within your community to
work on such a project, you can apply to Transport 2000 Atlantic for expert
advice to help you develop a workable strategy.

We are seeking statements of interest from community groups across the
province looking to propose, advocate, facilitate and/or market a public
passenger transportation service in their area.

If you would like to be considered, please send an expression of interest
with a brief summary of the proposed project, the community or region where
it is based, and contact information to Tim Crabtree at
transport2000atlantic at gmail.com
, or to Transport 2000 Atlantic, 2705 Fern Lane, Halifax, NS, B3K 4L3, fax:
902 405 3716. The deadline is December 19, 2007.

Expressions of interest will be considered by a selection committee drawn
from Transport 2000 Atlantic's Board. Two or three projects will be
selected for a short but intensive assistance program (January through March
2008) including advice on strategy, assistance with community engagement and
information on best practices.

If you would like more information about this project, please contact:
