The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC)

is a unique coalition of Atlantic Canadian organizations

working on international development and cooperation issues,

working together to achieve sustainable global development

in a peaceful and healthy environment, with social justice,

human dignity, and participation for all.



ACIC supports its members in development and developmental

education through collective leadership, networking,

information, training and coordination, and represents their

interests when dealing with government and others. We

currently have 65 members, including national and grassroots

organizations as well as individuals from across the

Atlantic Provinces. For more information, please refer to

ACIC is looking for a responsible, experienced person to

fill a temporary project officer position. The contract will

be for nine months (maternity leave replacement), with the

possibility of extension up to one year. The primary focus

of the position will be to manage a public engagement

project that connects aboriginal youth in Atlantic Canada

with indigenous youth in the South through art and music.

The Project Officer will also be responsible for managing

ACIC's International Youth Internship Program and other

activities related to the work of the Council.



The Project Officer reports to the Executive Director, 

and is responsible for:

* Project administration

* Human resource management - consultants and interns

* Outreach and education activities

* Organizing professional development workshops

* Coordinating public engagement events

* Financial management (project budgeting, reporting)



Experience & Qualifications:

* Minimum 3 years project/program management experience 

in International Development. University degree in relevant

discipline preferred

* Experience working overseas in a cross-cultural setting

an asset

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in

English; Spanish highly desired, French an asset

* Excellent interpersonal skills

* Self-driven, organized and results-oriented

* Experience organizing workshops, conferences & public

engagement events

* Experience working with non-governmental organizations

* Proven skills in proposal writing

* Familiarity with CIDA's results based management

approaches

* Adaptability and flexibility

* Demonstrated ability to work as a team player

* Proven financial management skills

* Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access,

Publisher, internet, e-mail, web publishing packages)

* Experience working with aboriginal communities in the

North and/or South an asset

* Experience in the music industry an asset



Location: Halifax, NS



Salary: $35,000 per annum, pro-rated
