Disaster and Development: Close-up Stories about Coping and Prevention.

Oxfam workers, Mia Vukojevic and Samuel Molla will hold information sessions
about their experiences with Oxfam’s humanitarian work in disaster zones.

 

Mia is the Humanitarian Coordinator at Oxfam Canada and responsible for
Oxfam’s response to overseas emergencies such as the cyclone in Bangladesh
and the disaster in Darfur. Mia’s most recent overseas assignment was in
response to the food crisis and large scale displacement in Zimbabwe.  

 

Samuel is Oxfam Canada’s Senior Program Officer in Ethiopia.  He is a leader
in Oxfam’s pioneering work to prevent disasters through solid community
development approaches.  He will show a short video about Asset Based
Community Development (ABCD) in Ethiopia and discuss the link between good
development practice and preventing devastation during emergencies.
