Water Specialist

 

Clean Nova Scotia is seeking an enthusiastic person who has a background
(education and/or experience) in a variety of water-related issues
including water conservation, stream restoration, alternatives to toxic
products, septic systems and wells. The successful candidate will also
have experience in environmental public education and outreach. Clean
Nova Scotia is a non-profit environmental organization, with a variety
of programs that focus on educating the public about their role in
improving the environment. Our present water-related projects include
the Environmental Home Assessment Program (which we deliver for the
provincial government), Project Webfoot (which we deliver for Ducks
Unlimited), Ship to Shore, and stream restoration summer projects.
Working on water related issues is a large part of our strategic plan
and we are looking for an individual who will assist us in implementing
these strategies. Clean Nova Scotia's workplace is dynamic, fast-paced,

Responsibilities:

-         Research and development of new water programs within our
strategic plan.

-         Relationship building with potential stakeholders and funders

-         Proposal writing for new funders

-         Point of contact for various funders

-         Report writing for current program funders as required

-         Co-ordination of water-related programs and staff 

-         Quality assurance for Clean Nova Scotia water-related programs

-         Chair of Clean Nova Scotia's Water Working Group 

 

Qualifications:

*      Excellent research and development skills

*      Understanding of public education and outreach strategies

*      Understanding of gaps in water-related programming and of
potential water-related funding

*      Experience and/or knowledge of wetlands, marine issues, water
conservation and stream restoration strategies, environmentally friendly
products

*      Excellent proposal writing skills

*      Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

*      Ability to multi-task and prioritize

*      Excellent organizational skills

*      Strong time management skills

*      Good computer skills and experience with the most common software
packages

*      Bachelors in environment-related studies and/or equivalent
environmental experience

*      Previous program co-ordination experience considered an asset

*      Valid drivers license and car (travel likely required)
