JOB POSTING VIDEO CHALLENGE PROJECT COORDINATOR
The Inter-Council Network (ICN) is a dynamic network of Provincial and
Regional member-based Councils for International Cooperation committed

The ICN is seeking a project coordinator for our Kaleidoscope Video
Challenge project which seeks to sensitize and engage young Canadians in
global development issues, and to support them in becoming responsible
and engaged global citizens.
Building on the popularity of video-sharing, the Kaleidoscope Video
Challenge invites youth participants to prepare and submit a 2-5 minute
video clip on what they believe is the most pressing global issue, and
what action(s) Canadians can take locally to address it.
Submissions will be judged regionally to determine one finalist from
each age category from each council. Nationally, a panel of prominent
Canadians will review finalists. Regional semi-finalists will be
showcased and the two national winners (one in each category) announced
at a gala event in Ottawa, May 2008.
The project is currently well underway, with the contest closing March
31. We are seeking a responsible, experienced bilingual person to take
on the tasks of coordinating the selection process, organizing regional
and national events, developing an educational package, evaluating the
project, and documenting best practices and lessons learned.
Responsibilities:
* Coordinating effective communication between provincial/regional
council project coordinators
* Liaising with media/communications consultants
* Implementing media/outreach strategy
* Organizing events regional and national awards galas
* Engaging the selection panel
* Documenting best practices and lessons learned
Desired Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
* Understanding of social justice and development issues
* Demonstrated experience working on a national campaign and/or
facilitating public engagement
* Demonstrated expertise in public relations, media and event
coordination
* Proven financial management skills
* Knowledge of Results-based Management framework
* Bilingual (English & French)
* Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communications skills
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player
* Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, Publisher,
internet, e-mail, web publishing packages)
* Enthusiastic and creative
Location: The position will be based at ACICs office in Halifax, Nova
Scotia.
Salary: $37,000 per annum (pro-rated), 5-month contract.
