The Lighting Installation program is a means to promote
energy conservation to the small commercial sector resulting
in the uptake of more energy efficient technologies. It
involves contacting small commercial enterprises and
installing two energy efficient lighting technologies that
result in measurable energy reductions.
Role of the Program Representative
The Program Representative's main responsibilities include:
* Able to sell business owners on the concept of energy
efficiency and the specific offerings of the program
* Work independently and as part of a team to book and
perform small commercial installations
* Keep detailed records of contact with businesses and
installations completed.
The Representative will report to the local Program
Coordinator and will need to be very organized, reliable and
motivated. This individual will need to work well on his/her
own as well as part of a team.
Qualifications:
Education: Completion of a post-secondary degree.
Vehicle: Access to a reliable vehicle will be required.
Mileage will be reimbursed. Some overnight travel may be
required
Safety equipment: All staff members are required to wear
CSA approved work boots on all job sites.
Other equipment: All staff must provide their own cell
phones with texting capability. Costs will be reimbursed.
Skills Required:
* Successful candidates must possess a professional
demeanor and be comfortable leading a sales pitch, providing
education, performing simple installations, and making cold calls
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, highly
organized, attentive to detail, ability to work
independently or as part of a team, positive attitude, and
enthusiasm for working within the environment industry
* Previous sales experience preferred
Tasks will include:
* Perform one-on-one program introduction to retailers
* Install simple energy efficient lighting products
* Distribute program literature to business owners
* Record all interactions and installations
* Report to program manager

Type of Employment: Full-time contract from September 27 to
December 5 2008
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (hours may need
to be flexible)
***Must be available to work the weekends of October 18th
-- 19th, 25th -- 26th.
Wage: $13.00 per hour
Locations/Positions Available: Halifax, Dartmouth, Truro,
New Glasgow, Amherst, Bridgewater, Lunenburg, Port
Hawkesbury, Antigonish, Glace Bay, Sydney and other
communities in Nova Scotia
