Position: Organic Garden Intern

Organization: The Maritime Village Victory Garden

Location: St. Andrews, New Brunswick

Over the last six years, friends have helped us create a

beautiful, bountiful homestead and garden in this lovely

corner of the Maritimes that borders on the most easterly

part of the U.S. The result is our evolving Eden, in friendly

and historic St. Andrews by-the-Sea. We grow over 100

different vegetables, fruits, trees, herbs and flowers.

Learn about and help with gardening, composting, food

preservation and preparation. Our meals are gourmet natural,

mostly from our gardens, omnivore/flex to meet our needs and

those of our interns. We save our own seed and organize an

annual seed exchange for our region. Our garden provides

much of our food and surplus for friends and neighbours.

Much of our harvest is stored--canned, dried or frozen--and

feeds us all year long. We heat with wood and interns

sometimes help to stack and split wood.

St. Andrews is the first and still the finest seaside

resort in Canada. Whale watching, botanical gardens, an

aquarium, museum, historic homes and estates, hiking,

birdwatching and many other local attractions are a short

walk from our house and garden. Community college and

many shops, cafes and eateries.

Private room and bath in our home available for intern(s)

for up to a week. Longer stays by mutual agreement. We

need interns from April through November and sometimes

in December.

Hosts have travelled widely, lived and worked in Central

America, and are peace, justice and environmental activists.

Lovable dog and cat in house.

506-529-4982, St. Andrews, New Brunswick.
