Position: EAC Membership Canvass Coordinator (P/T)

a background and interest in marketing and outreach. The
Ecology Action Centre and the environmental movement
need your skills.
ORGANIZATION
The Ecology Action Centre, established in 1971, is Nova
Scotia's largest and most active environmental organization.
We work on sustainable transportation, marine and coastal
issues, wilderness issues, forestry issues, urban issues,
green buildings, sustainable food production, climate change
and renewable energy, well all of it, really. The motto of
the EAC is 'Action is our Middle Name' and over the years
the Centre has achieved numerous conservation successes.
Membership is an essential component of the Centre. Our
members direct our work, support us and give us a mandate.
EAC has approximately 1000 members and during the six week
canvass we plan to significantly increase our membership
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop a dynamic team of 6-10 canvassers and build
momentum for a successful canvass and membership campaign,
including hiring, training, coaching and ensuring canvassers
meet targets
* Canvass with your team
* Organize and manage all the logistics of the canvass
including schedules, routes, and receipts
* Report to and work with the Development and Outreach
Coordinator
* Participate in and support the overall work of the Ecology
Action Centre
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS REQUIRED
* Experience and enthusiasm for marketing and outreach
and ability to strengthen these skills in others
* Experience training, managing and supervising staff
* Detail oriented and comfortable with administrative processes
* Available evenings and weekends and willing to travel
within HRM
* Knowledge of environmental issues an asset
* Experience working in nonprofit, volunteer-driven organizations
* Canvassing experience required
* Valid Nova Scotia driver's license
* Access to a vehicle an asset
* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, internet and email
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
15-20 hours per week @ $16.00/hr for 8 weeks
Start date: 1 September 2009
