Communications Coordinator Job Posting at Clean Nova Scotia
Starting Salary Range: $35,000-$37,000

Hours: Full time, 35 hours/week
Benefits: Available after the first year
Vacation: 2 weeks, plus Christmas Eve to New Years.
Clean Nova Scotia is a non-profit environmental organization that is
seeking a dynamic, skilled Communications Coordinator. The
Communications Coordinator is responsible for internal communication
with staff, management, and the Board of Directors. External
communication with the public, the media, Clean Nova Scotia members and
other targeted audiences is also a key component of this role.
Communications support will be provided through the design of materials
(posters, brochures, displays, etc.), the creation of newsletters,
website work, writing, and the development of strategic plans. The role
involves working independently, but also in collaboration with staff and
management during the planning and creative stages of various projects.
It's a demanding but ultimately very rewarding job for someone who
thrives in a fast paced, dynamic and fun environment.
Responsibilities
* Internal communications
Maintain and implement strategic communications plan
Advise the CNS Board and Executive Director on communications matters.
Plan and prepare for executive meetings, the AGM and board meetings.
Research, write, design, promote and distribute newsletters for members.
Webmaster: general maintenance and edits, work with contract web
designers to design website as needed, assist staff with updating their
program information.
Maintain and develop CNS displays and visuals for public events.
Coordinate other communications staff and contracts.
* External Communications
Anticipate and identify challenges and opportunities in the
media/political/public spheres that relate to Clean Nova Scotia.
Manage media relations and events.
Raise the public profile of the organization.
Program Related
Coordinate communications contracts and other communications staff as
needed.
Design materials (ads, brochures, posters etc.) for events and public
education.
Provide communication and strategic planning support for program
coordinators and staff.
Qualifications
Must be patient, have good listening skills, and the ability to guide
and interpret ideas from clients/staff
Experience developing and implementing strategic plans
Skilled in InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
Media relations experience (writing, interviews and interview prep and
coaching, media event planning etc.)
Strong and proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under time
pressures
Excellent organizational skills
Knowledge and/or background in environmental education is a strong asset
Supervisory experience and experience working in a team environment is
an asset
