Position: EAC Membership Canvasser -- Part Time

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Do you want to get in on the environmental action? Join the Ecology Action Centre's canvassing team and help inspire others to make NS a greener and healthier province.
The Ecology Action Centre was established in 1971 and is Nova Scotia's largest and most active environmental organization. We work on sustainable transportation, marine and coastal issues, wilderness issues, urban issues, sustainable food production and alternative energy. Action is our middle name.
Membership is an essential component of the Centre. Our members direct our work, support us and give us a mandate. EAC currently has approximately 1200 members. With this eight week membership canvass we hope to encourage more of our supporters to join.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Door-to-door canvassing within HRM
Some street and event canvassing
Making follow-up phone calls to prospective new members
Membership outreach in areas beyond HRM
Reporting to the Canvass Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS REQUIRED
Enjoy people and engaging with people
Passionate about the non-profit sector
Enjoy sales and the opportunity to bring funding into the environmental movement
Available evenings and weekends and willing to travel within HRM
Knowledge of environmental issues and the Ecology Action Centre an asset
Canvassing experience a definite asset
Valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle an asset
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time 10-20 hours per week @ $12.00/hr for 8 weeks (September -- October)
