EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY



Position: Environmental Protection Analyst

Organization: Nunatsiavut Government http://www.nunatsiavut.com

Location: Nain, Nunatsiavut, Labrador



Under the direction of the Director of Environment, the Environmental Protection Analyst will be responsible for the development and recommendation of policies to the Nunatsiavut Government in relation to environment protection and sustainable development.



Duties to include, but not limited to:

• Coordinate the development and implementation of community and regional research studies and projects to promote environmental protection and sustainable development

• Work creatively to increase capacity, understanding and community awareness of environmental protection in Nunatsiavut

• Develop regulations to accompany the newly established Nunatsiavut Environmental Protection Act and ensure its smooth implementation and operation.

• Develop relationships with established and potential partners with the goal of identifying interests, fostering connections, coordinating environmental protection and working as a multidisciplinary team

• Complete administrative tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of environmental protection and sustainable development.



Qualifications:

• Undergraduate Degree in related field with a minimum of three years related experience

• Ability to assume responsibility, prioritize and meet deadlines, handle multiple and varied tasks, and delegate assignments

• Ability to communicate effectively with persons of a wide variety of backgrounds and skills, including community members, government employees, and industry representatives

• Excellent interpersonal/human relations skills

• Organizational and analytic skills



Preference will be given to beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement. Applicants are asked to clearly state their beneficiary status on their cover letter or resume when applying.



Salary: In accordance to Nunatsiavut Government employee salary scale, plus applicable Labrador
