INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY



Position: International Internships

Type: full-time, 34 week internships with weekly stipend

Organization: Falls Brook Centre http://www.fallsbrookcentre.ca

Location: Cuba, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Mexico and Canada



Falls Brook Centre is a sustainable community demonstration and training centre in rural New Brunswick. Through local, national and international community development and resource stewardship work, we encourage and support initiatives that are working towards a society that respects ecosystems, honours diverse cultures and provides an economy in balance with communities and nature.



We are currently looking for dynamic youth who are interested in building both their personal and professional skills.



We offer a unique intern experience with both an intensive Canadian placement in rural New Brunswick and a 20 week placement with one of our southern partner organizations. Interns build their skills and knowledge in local community development in two settings: rural Atlantic Canada, and Latin America or the Caribbean.



While at FBC the internship training that you receive will introduce you to the following topics:



- organic agriculture and gardening;

- forest restoration and conservation;

- renewable energy and climate change;

- education and leadership;

- intercultural learning;

- community outreach; and

- rural living skills.



Placements will be available starting 25 July, 2011.



All applicants must be functional in both written and conversational Spanish and you must be a Canadian citizen.
