ACAP Cape Breton Job Postings - Trashformers Summer Team

 

Trashformers Crew 

 

ACAP Cape Breton is a non-profit charitable organization established in
1992. The original mission was to develop a comprehensive ecosystem
management plan for the watershed area of industrial Cape Breton. ACAP Cape
Breton has grown into a dynamic group that integrates environmental, social
and economic factors into projects focusing on action, education and
ecosystem planning. 

 

ACAP Cape Breton is currently filling positions for Trashformers Crew. The
successful candidate will work as part of a team to remove litter from areas
within the CBRM. This is a physically demanding job involving repetitive
tasks, standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, crouching and
kneeling. Successful applicants will be responsible for providing their own
steel-toed boots. Crew will meet at ACAP each morning. 

 

Start date: June 25, 2012

End date:  August 24, 2012

Rate of Pay: $10.15 hourly for 30 hours per week

 

Responsibilities

.         Following directions from the Team Leader 

.         Removing litter from designated public areas using trash grabbers

.         Campaigning for a clean, litter-free municipality

.         Creating and actively maintaining a safe work environment 

 

Qualifications 

.         Current first aid & CPR would be an asset

.         Must be returning to school in September 2012

.         Willingness to work outdoors in various conditions 

.         Strong communication and team work skills

.         Ability to multi-task and prioritize

End date:  August 24, 2012

 

Responsibilities

.         Supervision and transportation of Trashformers crew 

.         Assisting education coordinator with schedule and procedure
development

.         Resolution of work related problems

.         Removing litter from designated public areas using trash grabbers

.         Requisition of supplies and materials

.         Campaigning for a clean, litter-free municipality

.         Maintaining performance records

.         Report writing

.         Creating and actively maintaining a safe work environment 

 

Qualifications 

.         Must be returning to school in September 2012

.         Current first aid & CPR would be an asset

.         Experience in a supervisory role would be an asset

.         Willingness to work outdoors in various conditions 

.         Strong communication and team work skills

.         Ability to multi-task and prioritize

.         Must be of age and meet requirements to drive a rental vehicle
