WORK-STAY / INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Position: Organic Hobby Farm Hand and Hostel Manager
Type: unpaid work-stay / internship position with room and board
Organization: The Lazy Farmer Hostel http://www.lazyfarmerhostel.ca
Location: Village of Gagetown, near Fredericton, New Brunswick

We are a hostel and organic hobby farm located in the beautiful Village of Gagetown, New Brunswick. The village has about 700 full-time residents, and sees quite a few tourists, boaters, and bikers through the summer months! It's quaint!

We're looking for someone to help with the hobby farm (organic vegetable gardening, ducks, chickens, and potentially a goat...), and help maintain and operate the hostel! The entire property is operated in a sustainable and organic manner!

Some of the duties would include:
- organic gardening (from soil prep to harvest)
- animal care
- minor construction projects
- implementing sustainable practices
- Hostel duties (greeting guests, accepting payment, changing beds, laundry, cleaning rooms, etc)
- general property maintenance
- canning, preserving, etc.

We work as a team to make sure everything gets done and hostel guests are happy! Skills you don't have can be learned but someone with experience in some area of what we're doing would be great!

There is also a chance of attending the local farmers market with goods from the farm).

Start Date: We're looking for someone to stay the summer (mid-may until mid-September. Please let us know what your availability is when you apply.

What we're offering: We're offering a chance for you to escape the big city, perhaps, and learn how to live a sustainable, organic lifestyle. We're also offering room and board in exchange for 20-30 hours/week on the farm/hostel.

Other info: there's also the possibility of getting some part-time work in the village during your downtime. There is a restaurant right across the street from us, a pub and 2 more restaurants within a 5 min walk. There are also some shops within walking distance.

Once we've chosen someone, we can give out contact info for these establishments if you're interested in applying. Thanks in advance for your interest! Email your resume to hostelstay at yahoo.ca and let us know if you'd be able to Skype for an interview!

Hope the winter is treating you well!

Julie and Sean
